Here, we’ll see hippos, some of Africa’s largest crocodiles, and various bird species.

After the visit, we’ll drive to Konso for a lunch break, followed by a visit to Konso Village. Here, we’ll explore one of the 9 UNESCO-registered villages. The Konso people are known for erecting stones and poles called “generation poles,” which are raised every 18 years to mark the start of a new generation. The age of the village can be determined by the number of standing poles.

After the visit, we’ll drive to Turmi (a 4-hour drive).

Day 3, Activity Drive to Kara village

In the morning, after breakfast, we’ll drive to Kara Village. The Kara are a small tribe with an estimated population of around 3,000, living along the east banks of the Omo River. The Kara are known for their beautiful, large villages near the Omo River and for the children who paint their faces and bodies.

After the visit, we’ll drive back to Turmi for a lunch break (approximately a 3-hour drive round trip).

In the afternoon, if we’re lucky, we might witness the unique bull-jumping ceremony, a rite of passage where a boy becomes a “man” after proving his ability to jump and walk over 5 to 13 cattle standing in a row.

The day may also include a special event where close female family members show their appreciation for the groom’s family by allowing the Maza (man’s) to whip them with a stick, a ritual that symbolizes their love and loyalty to the family.

If there is no bull-jumping ceremony, we will visit a Hamer village in the afternoon.

Day 4, Activity Visit Dassanech Tribe and Drive to Jinka

In the morning after breakfast drive to Omorate, here you will cross the great Omo river to visit Dassanech tribe village.

Note: Please bring your passports for this trip, as Omorate is a border town with Kenya, and we’ll need to show your passport and entry stamp to immigration.

After the visit, we’ll drive back to Turmi (a 3-hour round trip).

In Turmi, we’ll check out, have a lunch break, and then drive to Jinka (approximately a 2.5-hour drive).

If you’re not too tired, we’ll visit the Jinka Museum or an Ari tribe village in the late afternoon.
