Hammar Tribe
The Hammer tribe inhabits the eastern territory of the Omo River. Hamar villages are found throughout both Turmi and Dimeka; their people are easily the most recognizable of all the Omo Valley tribes, save perhaps for the Mursi.

Arone knows the tribes really well!
We visited the Omo Valley for 4 full days, flying into Jinka and flying out of Arba Minch. We booked Omo River Tours with Arone before we arrived in Africa. He was very responsive to my emails and accommodated my requests - I got to choose which tribes I wanted to see, what areas I wanted to visit, what activities to do and also chose to have down time in between activities. He is flexible with our times and our mood for the day. He gave us a reasonable price for the tour. Visiting the tribes, it is very apparent that Arone knows them well and that they like Arone. We were allowed to take photos, videos, interact with the tribes - asking them questions, them asking us as well, we shared coffee with them, played with the children.
I was able to see all the tribes I wanted to see, went to the Hamer Market, and we got to see bull jumping - Arone searched high and low to find us a bull jumping experience. His driver, Elias, was also very polite, nice and helpful. He took us to Buska Lodge for food and food here was great! Overall, I highly recommend Arone if you are thinking to visit the Omo Valley tribes - he gave us a wonderful and immersive experience with the tribes. We did not feel uncomfortable and the tribes seemed to enjoy us visiting them too.
